BEIJING, Mar 12, 2010 (Xinhua via COMTEX) --
The Lenovo Group (00992.HK; LNVGY.PK) is searching for opportunities in important developing markets, including China's mobile internet and PC markets.
It is also considering merger and acquisition (M&A) activities.
Yang Yuanqing, CEO of the Lenovo Group, made the above remarks on the sidelines of the ongoing annual session of the CPPCC National Committee, the top political advisory body.
China's mobile internet market is listed as one of the areas that Lenovo plans to enter this year.
Other developing markets that attracted Lenovo's attention include Russia, India, Southeast Asia, and Eastern Europe.
However, Lenovo has not concluded upon any M&A targets, according to Yang.
Lenovo's strategy in emerging markets has won initial victories; its market share in Russia has increased to six percent from 2-3 percent.
Lenovo aims to expand its market share in targeted developing markets to over 10 percent within one or two years. (Edited by Hou Yujie, houyj@xinhua.org)
